Cage Furnitures for Budgies

Budgies, or parakeets, are a common domestic pet. They're well-liked by the people because they are inexpensive, low-maintenance, and genuinely saying they are quite interesting pets.

While wild budgies originated from Australia, they are now housed in suitable cages as pets throughout the world. Budgies can be caged alone or with other budgies and entertain their owners with a range of vocal sounds and are visually appealing, like colorful feathers. Keep the cage clean and provide plenty of furniture and toys to the budgies to play with.

Toys

Entertain budgies with plenty of toys in the cage. Budgies are social creatures and can get bored. While you do not want to clutter the cage, add a few toys to the cage and consider rotating toys around or replacing old toys with new ones each time you clean the cage. This helps keep it interesting. Use bells, toy rings, balls and swings. Check your local pet store regularly for new toys that might be interesting to your budgie. All toys must be the appropriate size for your budgie.

Mirror

If your budgie lives alone in his cage, give him the illusion he has company. Install a mirror in the cage. Budgies often enjoy looking at the other budgie in the mirror. Some budgies may even become obsessed with the mirror. They may spend hours trying to communicate with their own image.

Perch

Place wooden perches or natural branch perches in the cage. Budgies generally like to sit up high, so install perches at different levels in the cage, including one higher up. Wooden perches are good for budgies' feet and provide a resting spot for your pet.

Water

Your budgie will need a water bottle designed for budgies to drink from, and a bird bath big enough to splash around in and clean itself in. Select water containers that can be closed or covered so the water does not quickly become dirty from debris or excrement.

Food Dishes

One of the most important pieces you add to the cage with be food containers. It is also important that these can be closed or covered so the food isn't contaminated when in the cage. Also place a cuttle bone and mineral block in the cage to supplement important calcium and minerals your budgie needs in his diet. Supplements should be available in the cage even if your budgie does not currently use them. When you budgie senses a deficiency, he will use the supplement.
